Write for us

Urban Public Journal welcomes pitches that make an overlooked feature of shared city space easier to understand. Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option.

What we welcome

We are interested in clear, original pieces about streets, squares, parks, civic places and the design choices people encounter there. Useful approaches include comparing two ways of arranging a space, explaining how a familiar feature works, or tracing the history of a public-space convention without turning it into a simple progress story.

What makes a strong pitch

Name the subject, the central question and the reader takeaway. Explain what is distinctive about your angle, what material would support it and why it suits this publication. Keep the proposal concise and specific; broad claims that a city needs to change are not enough without a defined subject and a careful line of argument.

Before sending

Pitches should be original, fact-checkable and written for a general reader. Disclose relevant interests or relationships, and do not submit private information or material you cannot use. A proposal is not a guarantee of publication; we may ask for clarification or a different framing.
